G
About me: I'm a 21 yr old medical student at Newcastle University. I love all climbing disciplines but have a particular soft spot for outdoor sport routes. My favourite thing is when I can help develop someone's climbing and watch them get psyched from their improvement.
Experience and Qualifications: 10 years of climbing experience (4 years as a coach and route setter). CWI and Development Coach trained.
How can I help? I'm adaptable to an individual's needs, whether that's gaining technique, pushing your grade boundaries and anything in between! Importantly, I try to make sessions fun and engaging so people keep the love of climbing.

Lloyd
About Me: I am a 23 year old engineering student. I have been climbing for 5 years, starting on ropes, both indoors and out, however I have spent the last 2 years mainly bouldering.
Experience and Qualifications: I started volunteering as an instructor with the air cadets in 2019 and have worked as a CWI for my university since 2021. When working at friction, I mainly run kids and beginner sessions. I complete Friction's annual site specific training and assessment.
How can I help you? I can help you understand the fundamentals of climbing which will help you develop your technique. I can also help you gain understanding of your strengths and weaknesses on and off the wall, with the aim of progressing through beginner and intermediate levels of bouldering.

Ben
About me: I am 20 years old and studying Sports and Exercise Science at the University of Stirling. I have been climbing for around 2 years, mostly bouldering, but since joining Uni, I’ve been introduced from everything from dry tooling to mountaineering and everything in between (still have not got over my fear of ropes). I’m just super stoked for climbing and can’t get enough of it.
Experience and Qualifications: I’ve worked at Friction for a year and a half coaching everything from beginners to academy level. Studying at University has also given me the knowledge in sports psychology, nutrition and all of its baggage to be able to help you.
How can I help you? I can help in all aspects of climbing, but love to get beginners into the sport, develop their technique and psych. I can also cater for intermediate climbers who are beginning to develop a combination of strength and technique, with the goal of wanting to push their grade boundaries.

Katie
About me: I am 25 and come from a small village in West Yorkshire where my love for sport fist began. However, this was in the form of dance and not climbing. My jump into the climbing world began 3 years ago when I was introduced to the outdoor climbing venue of SHAFTO, and have been on a rampage of wanting to learn any and every form of climbing ever since.
Experience and Qualifications: I have completed Friction's site specific training and assessment, Fundamentals of climbing 1, 2 and 3, and also Foundation Coach.
How can I help you? Whether you want to replace your gym workout with something different, push your grade, or train for the big outdoors, we can work together to come up with the best plan for you to achieve your goals (and have lots of fun on the way)!
